UN Secretary General Ban ki-Moon:“Our workplace should be a model of respect for every single person, regardless of any difference. I urge you to make most of this workshop, and to together create a truly fair, equitable and respectable United Nations.”

Kate Gilmore, UNFPA Deputy Executive Director – Programme:“The core purpose of UN for All is to encourage us to explore, to better understand and therefore better uphold our deep regard for our core values of diversity and inclusiveness. If this is to be a United Nations, if this is to be a global body committed, dedicated to sustainable, inclusive development rooted in the fundamental principles of human rights, there is no better place to begin than with ourselves.”

UNLOCK Case Study

The United Nations Laboratory for Organizational Change and Knowledge (UNLOCK), a collaboration of the United Nations System Staff College and UNDP, has published a case study on “Delivering Successful Change on Diversity and Inclusion in the United Nations.” The case study features five initiatives from across the UN system, in particular from UNAIDS, UNDP, UNDSS, UNHCR - and our own UN for All project of UN Cares.

In addition to a description of each initiative, the case elaborates a 12-step model (see below) for preparing, designing and implementing change, with relation to diversity and inclusion in the UN system. UN Cares thanks everyone who has been involved in advocacy, development or implementation of these workshops, who all share in this recognition. Read the full case study here.
